Ceramic Fiber Board is made from refractory fibers and binders which have low organic content, the mixture is vacuum processed into boards that impart good mechanical strength even after heating. Boards are manufactured in various densities and temperature grades to suit application requirements. Ceramic Fiber Boards are a rigid and self-supporting insulating product of the ceramic fiber family that is intended for use in applications that require Higher insulating properties Increased strength and rigidity to resist gas erosive forces Fire resistance and direct heat resistance up to 2300°F High resistance to thermal shock (ability of a solid to withstand sudden changes in temperature either during heating or cooling) Product Specifications Classification Temperature (F) 2300 Colour White/Tan Density (Lbs/ft3) 20 - 24 Size (T x W x L) 1 inch x 19.7 inch x 39.4 inch Thickness Tolerance - 0.04 inch, + 0.08 inch Width Tolerance ± 0.12 inch Length Tolerance -0.12 inch, +0.2 inch Hardness (Shore A) 50 Minimum Moisture (%) 10 Maximum Modulus of Rapture (Kpa) 980 Minimum – For 1” Thick; 588 Minimum – For 2” Thick Permanent Linear Shrinkage (%) 3.5 Maximum (After 24 Hrs. shocking Heat at 2200°F) Compressive Strength (Kpa) 274.6 Minimum (10% deformation for 1” Thick) Compressive Strength (Kpa) 539.4 Minimum (25% deformation for 1” Thick) Al2O3 (%) 44-45 SiO2 (%) 55-58 LOI % at 1832°F 4 - 7 Key Product Features Ceramic Fiber Insulation Board is ideal for use in Wood Stoves, Fireplaces, Pizza Ovens, Kilns, Forges, Internal Baffle of Wood Stove, Pellet Stoves, Backup Insulation of Refractory Bricks, and Castable Linings, Furnace Hot Face Linings and Boiler Wall Insulation, Heat shields, Combustion Chambers and fire protection. I used this to replace the baffles on my englander nc30 wood stove. After cutting a piece to match the dimensions I needed I then cut that piece in half to provide the clearance to put it in place. I cut the piece wide enough so it wouldn’t leave the gap that was originally left with the baffle boards that came with the stove (either in the middle or on one side, depending on how you positioned the boards). The two pieces I ended up with are a perfect set (cut by hand with a Japanese wood saw). I originally thought the extra thickness was going to be a problem but it appears it gives an added bonus instead...it takes much less time now for my stove to reach proper burn temperatures than it did with my original baffles (maybe my old baffles were too beat up). I also have enough leftover for another set of baffles if I ever need it, which I doubt because of the extra thickness of this board.
