I love these carafes! These are the only attractive individual carafes I've seen, and I think they look great. The ones I've had in the past have been functional, but not ones that I really want on my dining table with friends. These, on the other hand, are worthy of a spot on my table right next to the Waterford, Baccarat, Riedel or even my Costco everyday glasses. They also have what I consider to be the perfect combination of delicate and hearty feel to them. You definitely don't want to be careless, but at the same time, I'm comfortable putting them in the dishwasher (and have done many times) without concern of breakage. I really do think you'll love these.
