This glass Absinthe fountain is pretty special because of its decorated Green Fairy lid and its greenish coloring. An Absinthe fountain replaces a water carafe and drives the Absinthe ritual to perfection: Firstly, the slow drip of water easily dissolves the sugar cube. Secondly, the water and Absinthe blend very slowly, which is important to get a swirly, milky louche. Preparing Absinthe with a fountain is a unique experience. Every veritable Absintheur should call one his own. Because of its high-quality this Absinthe fountain is as well perfect as a gift (and you can already use it at the party!). Quality Note: The ALANDIA Absinthe fountains are made in Europe by a glassblower manufacturer with a long tradition. They are distinguished from visually similar fountains by their precise manufacturing without craftsmanship defects (there are no crooked taps, asymmetries in the glass or too thin glass, which can lead to predetermined breaking points). You will not be disappointed by its quality. How to serve Absinthe with a fountain: Fill the Absinthe fountain with ice cubes and water. Fill the Absinthe glass with Absinthe (1 to 1.3 oz.). Place one sugar cube on the spoon. Now open the spouts of the fountain, and ice-cold water drips on the sugar cube(s) on the spoon. Slowly, the drops dissolve the sugar. The Absinthe Fountain "Green Fairy" Absinthe Fountain: Four Spigots The Absinthe fountain has four spigots. This enables you to enjoy your glass of Absinthe with a party of four. It is as well very easy to clean, as you can unscrew the spigots. For easy handling and to avoid breakage of the glass, the spigots are made out of plastic. They have an exclusive appearance, as they are coated with a silver-metallic color. Absinthe Fountain: The History Absinthe fountains are not a new invention. They were already used in the 19th century. On the photo, you can see two Absintheurs proudly sitting around their Absinthe fountain. Already at this time, an Absinthe fountain (instead of a water carafe) was an affordable luxury. Absinthe Fountain: Green Fairy The highlight of the Absinthe fountain is the lid with a Green Fairy holding a glass of Absinthe. The drink was called the "Green Fairy" as the (1.) color of Absinthe is green and (2.) Absinthe changes its color from green to white as soon as you add water. The so called "louche" reminds of a Fairy that ascends in swirls out of the spirit... + Absinthe Manual for the right preparation Drinking Absinthe is an experience, especially if you prepare it the right way. The set includes a card where the traditional Absinthe ritual is explained in easy steps. Despite popular belief, Absinthe is not set on fire. This fire ritual is actually a modern invention and we do not recommend it at all. It destroys the fine flavor of quality Absinthe, is dangerous and historically inauthentic. The traditional French way of serving Absinthe is with ice-cold water and a sugar cube. The Absinthe fountain replaces the ordinary water carafe. Enjoy and santé (French for cheers)! L'Heure Verte the green hour of Absinthe Absinthe was traditionally drunk after work (5-7 pm). It was socially accepted to drink a glass with your friends. This time of the day was called the Green Hour (L'Heure Verte). In a way it was the first invention of the Happy Hour :-). It's time for Absinthe (L'Heure Verte)!
