Instead of a peppery black and white with tribal leaning, there are what I remember to be a light and medium natural tone weaved with dark green; attractive, none the less, but I would fit it in with country decor moreso than the direction I was going. It fits with my stuff that I have, such as an antique style wood cabinet and linen club chair, but I'm second guessing the sofa I was choosing. (I'm happy to have been finding some available here on amazon). The texture here is very rich and chunky. I could imagine going to a family home with an eclectic mix of "popularized" crafty country items and finding this rug, but as a guy with mixed leanings, I can make it work. It makes a good, better-than-average impression. First impression is very striking. The contrast is apparent when coming up the steps. Almost vividly - like when things appear when first trying on glasses. The picture shown doesn't quite show the thickness of the weaving or the color variety. Up close would be a suitable shot. The feel on the feet is nice, though it was a cold room at the time I tried. In my opinion, the rug brightens the room more than it darkens, though the dark is dark. The pattern is almost too much, but it was done favorably. I want to say it can have the look of images like the patterns in books that you gaze at to see 3D images pop out. If a busy rug isn't what you want, you might consider something more subtle. If you have a lot of patterns already, that would be another reason to steer away from this one. If you're working with solid colors, no patterns, and want variety...this could fit possibly. It is a heavy rug, but I found it easy to lay out and manage. It actually fit perfectly snug between pieces of furniture in the room. Besides that, I can say for certain that this rug is high quality, but I don't have much to compare it to, from experience as of yet. Also, it appears durable, and the craftmanship is beyond expectations. I have had a good experience with rug shopping, though tiring. I was also considering a plain, flat weave jute topped with a real cowhide. That option, though, didn't make good feng shui sense, so I felt it better to be safe than sorry. The look of cowhide is good though, I admit. I can only recommend this rug after all the rugs I've seen. It's at a good price-point, competitive with denim rugs or cotton in general, and yet, probably easy to clean.
