Description

Merit Abrasotex high-strength buffing discs are smear-proof and resist tearing on burrs and sharp edges. These discs are suitable in difficult to reach areas due to the conformable design, and produce a consistently uniform finish. This disc features a resin bond. Resin bonds have good moisture resistance, are harder and less flexible than glue bonds, and have good heat resistance and grain retention. Resin bonds are useful for abrasive operations with high operating speeds, impact, and sudden loading, as the resin bond is strong and waterproof. Nylon fiber does not rust and is waterproof. The PowerLock quick-change system allows for easy disc mounting and removal to increase productivity by reducing the time required to change discs. Aluminum oxide is a widely used and versatile abrasive material. It is a tough, fracture- and wear-resistant grit that works well with a broad range of materials, from metals to wood. Aluminum oxide is more durable than silicon carbide and often used for material removal and finishing. Nonwoven abrasives have individual abrasive grains interspersed throughout an open web of nylon fibers. Open web construction produces a cushioned, three-dimensional material that is pliable, long-lasting, and will not rust. The uniform dispersion of abrasive throughout the web provides a supply of new grain as the old grain and fibers wear away during use. The nylon web is waterproof and washable. In nonwoven abrasives, the grit is designated with a letter code, from Extra Coarse (XC) to Microfine (MF). Merit Abrasives has been manufacturing abrasives for the deburring and finishing industries since 1945, and pride themselves on their quality and focus on service. Saint-Gobain owns Merit, and has been recognized as a Global 100 Sustainable Company. Saint-Gobain has also earned ISO 9000 and 14001 certification for quality and environmental management standards.
