In a saucepan, combine coconut sugar and water. Heat until the sugar dissolves. Add the cacao beans. 3. Transfer this mixture onto parchment paper to cool. If you love the typical sugary (usually processed gmo white beet sugar at that), comparitivly expensive chocolate bars on the market then these are not at all for you so do not even give it a try unless you want healthy chocolate alternative that is slightly bittersweet to sweet and crunchy prepared in the following way. Besides, most people just accept massive processed sugary chocolate, but not me, so again if that's you than stick to that but.I simply mix organic cocao powder with maple syrup to a paste which I prefer thick, than it is a bit on the bitter side but if you prefer it sweeter make that mix on the liquidy side. In one hand I have the dry beans and munch a couple with a small amout of the cocao maple mix and I love the crunchy chocolaty taste. Simple, fast, delicious, satisfying, healthy, economical. I love them prepared this way which can be made delicious with concideraly less sugar content than commercial bars and although it is totally not necssary to add cocao butter you could ad a small amount when mixing your cocao powder and maple syrup or whatever sweetener you prefer. If using say sucanat sugar or other powdered sugar than add a bit of water to the cocao powder mix to make it into a paste.
